Specialty Roastery & Café — Quezon City

Slow brews. Tagalog soul.

We roast Philippine single-origin coffee in small, deliberate batches — from the cool slopes of Benguet to the rice terraces of Sagada — and brew it slowly, the way good stories are told.

Benguet Arabica, Sagada Heirloom, roasted in Quezon City, small batch, single origin.

Chapter One — The Origin

A tala is a star — the kind farmers read before sunrise.

Kape Tala began in 2021 with a secondhand 1-kilo roaster, a borrowed garage in Teachers Village, and a stubborn belief: Philippine coffee deserves to be treated like the world-class crop it is. Our founders, siblings Luna and Rafael Dimaano, grew up watching their lola brew kapeng barako in a blackened tin pot every 4 AM.

Today we work directly with eleven smallholder farms across Benguet, Sagada, and Bukidnon — paying above fair-trade rates, cupping every harvest, and roasting no more than 20 kilos at a time. No blends that hide the farm. No darkness that hides the bean. Just honest coffee, named after the people and mountains that grew it.
